Job Purpose


  • The Director will share in the call of the Church to promote the mission to love and follow Jesus Christ with an unwavering commitment to preserve Catholic Teaching, provide a model of Missionary Discipleship, and strategic planning.
  • The Director will work directly with the Superintendent, Vicar of Faith Formation with Youth and Young Adults, Office of Catholic Education, Administrators, Faculty, and School Ministers/Directors of School Ministry/Chaplains to cultivate a culture of Missionary Discipleship throughout our Secondary Team, Secondary Schools and Schools of Special Education to encounter Jesus Christ.
  • The Director will ensure the Church's vision, values, and culture are integrated into all aspects of the secondary educational ministry.
  • The Director builds and maintains a strong, mission-focused network of leaders who are champions of Missionary Discipleship with a deep sense of the supernatural component and the capacity to form others in their encounter with Jesus Christ.
  • The Director reports to the Superintendent of Secondary of Schools and Schools of Special Education, and collaborates with the Vicar of Faith Formation of Youth and Young Adults.








Duties and Responsibilities


  • Work in close collaboration with the Superintendent and the Vicar of Faith Formation with Youth and Young Adults to provide coordination and leadership of programs and events in support of the enhancement of the Theology curriculum in Catholic Schools.
  • Leads the Secondary Team, Secondary Schools and Schools of Special Education and Ministers in spiritual development for the school, administration, families, faculty, staff and students.
  • Assist Human Resources and our Secondary Schools and Schools of Special Education to ensure our hiring is intentionally relate to our Mission.
  • Provide vision, leadership, excellence in ministerial offerings and strategic planning that strengthens the Office of Catholic Education and school leadership teams.
  • The Director assists the Superintendent by providing leadership and direction to ensure the integration and continuation of the Mission and Vision of the Archdioceses of Philadelphia.
  • The Director works jointly with the Vicar of Faith Formation with Youth and Young Adults in implementing programs, standards for mission formation, retreat and service encounters, and establishes outcome measurements for continuous growth.
  • Ensure that the lay ministers are aware and compliant with all liturgical norms regarding our school celebration of the Mass and other liturgies.
  • Responsible for the coordination of Mission and Values education, spirituality in the workplace, ethical decision making and leadership in advocacy.
  • Participates in Team Meetings and other meetings related to the role of Mission and Vision.
  • Orient new Administrators to Mission and Vision, the Culture of the Archdiocese and historical legacy.
  • Delivers presentations at Orientation, Professional Development, Staff Development and Leadership programs, as well as other opportunities as they arise.
  • Develop and implement ongoing plans to maximize Gospel proclamation.

Administrative Duties

  • Other duties that may be assigned at the discretion of the Archbishop and/or Auxiliary Bishop responsible for Catholic Education. The Superintendent will rank priorities when the need arises.
  • Coordinate all the gathers of school ministers, chaplains and Directors of School Ministry throughout the year.
  • Oversee and manage department budget.
  • Attend administration and staff meetings.
  • Meet with the Superintendent and the Vicar of Faith Formation with Youth and Young Adults on a Monthly basis.
  • Participating in meetings/workshops sponsored by the Office for Faith Formation with Youth and Young Adults.






Qualifications


  • Must be a Missionary Disciple capable of forming others into Missionary Disciples.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic, willing to uphold Catholic moral teaching and leading a life consistent with the Catholic Faith.
  • Master's degree in Theology or Religious Studies from a Catholic college or university.
  • Minimum of five years of leadership experience.
  • Solid grounding in the Catholic theological tradition.
  • Previous experience in secondary education, ministry, youth ministry or parish life preferred.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Work effectively in team environment.
  • Ability to think creatively to build programs and opportunities related to our Mission.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and social media preferred.


Working Conditions


  • Twelve month, full time position; evenings and weekends as required.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel is also expected as a part of the position.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • The majority of this job will be spent indoors in a climate-controlled environment.

Physical Requirements


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tool or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear.
  • Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 15 pounds.
