Job purpose

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia Human Resources Office is seeking an entry level candidate with a strong interest in the field of Human Resources to recruit for many of our divisions including Catholic Social Services, Catholic Housing and Community Services, St. Charles Seminary and the Pastoral Center. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management is required and HR internship experience preferred.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage Personnel Requisition process to ensure that desired candidate traits are identified and that budget requirements are satisfied
  • Work with hiring managers to develop a strategy for each open position assigned, in order to best meet the needs and culture of individual department
  • Maintain Archdiocese vacancy list of open positions and update regularly
  • Develop and utilize advertising and posting venues that yield a qualified pool of applicants, including outreach to minority groups, while maintaining advertising expenditures within the assigned budget
  • Screen resumes and applications in an efficient and timely manner to identify qualified applicants
  • Schedule interviews with individual departments and the Human Resources Office to learn more about applicants' knowledge and experience, as well as to provide them with important information regarding pay, benefits and work environment
  • Coach Managers and supervisors regarding best practices in interviewing and identifying qualified candidates. Work with hiring managers to assist them in making good hiring decisions
  • Conduct reference checking, collect credentialing and clearances. Manage salary approval and salary exception process
  • Make formal offers and forward appropriate offer letters
  • Conduct regular new employee orientations and collect related documentation
  • Assist parishes and other entities when recruiting assistance is required
  • Perform other Human Resources duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field required. Some previous HR/intern experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of Human Resources.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information

Physical requirement

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tool or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 30lbs.
