JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Director of Religious Education (DRE)
Classification: Director
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
To direct and ensure the fulfillment of all requirements for the formation of young disciples through the evangelization and catechesis of parish children attending non- Catholic schools or Home Schooling as well as to oversee and coordinate the Sacramental preparation of all parish children, whatever school attending, for the reception of First Penance, Holy Communion and Confirmation. To assist children who are becoming Catholic after the age of reason and their families. Works to communicate and enhance the joyful, friendly, and contagiously faithful efforts of discipleship both within and without the Parish.

This is an exempt, full time position with evening and weekend work required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The DRE reports directly to the Pastor and works collaboratively with other parish staff, our onsite regional school (Holy Cross Regional Catholic School), and parish families with the goal of forming an environment characterized by prayer, a
welcoming and hospitable environment, fostering discipleship, fellowship, authentic community, learning, mutual respect and Christian charity.
- Coordinates and directs the religious instruction of children (most especially levels 1 7). This includes classes held afterschool, evenings, weekends, and/or online as
- Coordinates and directs the Family Option Program or home-based
- Coordinates and directs the Confirmation Preparation Program for grade
- Directs the preparation of all parish children for the sacraments of First Penance, First Eucharist, and
- Recruits and forms catechists to help instruct and form disciples for the
- Coordinates the program for Home-School families and evaluate the readiness of children
- Coordinates the initiation process for unbaptized children, and/or children baptized validly in another ecclesial community, and/or those who need additional catechesis for Sacraments, in cooperation with the pastor and parish RCIA
- Oversees the Liturgy of the Word for Children program at Sunday
- Communicates regularly with families keeping them updated and informed of program information, inviting them to parish worship, community, and service
- Oversees the maintenance of all records, communications and office procedures as
- Attends/participates in Office for Catechetical Formation events, workshops and County meetings for ongoing professional and spiritual
- Additional responsibilities assigned at Pastor's
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPENTENCIES
- Masters or Bachelor in Theology, Religious Studies, Education, or acceptable
- Fully initiated Roman Catholic, in good standing with the Catholic
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of and commitment to the teachings, beliefs, and life of the Roman Catholic
- Strives to be a passionate disciple of the Lord and to make
- Completion of Virtus and all Safe Environment Programs and up-to-date clearances as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Archdiocese of
- Valid Driver's
- Self-motivated.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Finale, Sibelius,
- Ability to relate and work well with people of all ages in a team environment and as a team
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Excellent Leadership and Supervisory
- Preference for experience in coordinating a program of Religious Education and/or other parish work
- Experience in educational administration or professional education will also be
